When to Refurbish Brushes

Knowing when it’s time to refurbish brushes is key to keeping your equipment running smoothly and avoiding downtime. Typically, you should have your brushes refilled with new bristles when the brush’s rated lifespan expires or when the bristles wear out. Wear can come from regular use, corrosion, and/or foreign object inclusion.

Compared to full replacement, refurbishment is the more economical option when the brush base is still in good condition, especially if the base is an expensive component of the brush.

Our Refurbishment Services

At Cocker-Weber Brush Company, our detailed refurbishment process ensures your brushes are restored to optimal performance. If you have drawings or blueprints available, we use them to precisely restore your brush to its original specifications. If not, we carefully measure the brush and fill materials. Old tufts are removed and replaced with new ones, followed by trimming and thorough inspection.

We specialize in tufted brush repair, meticulously hand-producing each brush to ensure it’s fully reconditioned to perform like new. All filaments, hairs, and wires we use are certified, and our knowledgeable brushmakers measure, inspect, and test each refurbished brush without creating wear on the filament.

Materials Used

Unless an upgrade is requested, we replace the original tufts with the same material. Examples of common materials we use to refurbish brushes include nylon 6 and 12, stainless steel 302 and 304, and horse hair.

Industry Standards for Refurbished Brushes

Industry quality standards for refurbished brushes are identical to those for new brushes, with the exception of some wear on the brush base. An existing brush base usually cannot be modified, other than by enlarging the tuft holes.

Benefits of Our Refurbishment Services

  • Effective, Uniform Brushing: Our advanced bristling techniques guarantee the correct filament density and a uniform brushing result, protecting delicate surfaces like glass from damage.
  • Save Time and Money: By refurbishing your existing brushes, we help you save time and money on purchasing new brushes.
  • Greater Customer Satisfaction: Due to the high density of our refurbished brushes, you can brush products without scratching or streaking, supporting customer satisfaction.
